Our commitment to the environment
We at Mecal are firmly convinced that the future of our industry must look to environmental sustainability. That is why, since the beginning of our bussiness in Piacenza, we have made conscious and responsible choices to reduce our impact.
Our goal is simple: to be a leader not only in metal carpentry and mechanical processing, but also in protecting the environment.
What do we do to sustain the environment?
We believe that every action makes a big difference. Everyday, Mecal works with the aim of improving and finding innovative solutions to increase its sustainability. Our commitment to the environment is testimony of our values and our vision for a better future. We are eco-friendly and proud of it.
SOLAR ENERGY
One of our largest investments has been the installation of solar panel systems in two of our plants. This system allows us to exploit solar energy, significantly reducing our CO2 emissions and covering up to the 70% of our energy demand.
The results are visible and we are very proud of it: we have diminished emissions and helped protect the planet.
LATEST GENERATION TECHNOLOGIES
By purchasing new generation machinery we have demonstrated not only that we want to improve our work, but also that we pay particular attention to the issue of reducing consumption.
In recent years, we have introduced several green innovations also in the choice of company vehicles: we have always preferred hybrid or plug-in vehicles and have recently installed three electric charging stations to encourage the use of electric vehicles among our employees and collaborators, thus further reducing emissions and promoting more sustainable mobility.
RESOURCE AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
Another distinctive aspect of our company is the management of water and fossil fuels. Mecal does not use gas or water in any of its processes, avoiding waste and preserving precious and limited resources.
Our attention to the environment is also reflected in waste management.
We do not produce metal waste: all processing waste – stainless steel, iron and aluminum – is entirely reused, promoting a circular economy model that reduces environmental impact and enhances available resources.
