Mecal offers a vast range of additional services and processes to supply our Customer with finished goods
The range of our surface treatments has been intended to respect our objective, which has always been to provide services that meet the high standards of the metal carpentry sector in terms of quality, flexibility and efficiency. Thanks to stable connections with external collaborators, we can offer many additional services and treatments to complete our clientsโ projects.
Our aim is to guarantee the Customer finished and ready-to-use pieces, which will not require further processing once received, being ready for their installation.
Metal surface treatments
Upon customer request, Mecal is able to carry out various surface treatments on the manufactured parts. The purpose of these operations is mainly to give the metal components optimal finishes that not only confer an aesthetic value, but increase their resistance and durability over time and reduce the risk of oxidation of the metal.
The treatments must comply with all technical information from the documents and/or specifications provided by the Customers.

Metal surface treatments: Galvanizing
Depending on the specific request, galvanizing can be hot, cold or electrolytic. Employed to protect metallic materials from deterioration due to external agents, the galvanizing process is based on the application of a layer of zinc, which is characterized by strong resistance to corrosion, to the metal surface.
Metal surface treatments: Painting
Depending on the specifications, the painting process can be powder or liquid. The painting gives the parts anti-corrosive properties that are important for increasing resistance to chemical and atmospheric agents.
Additionally, painting can be applied to improve the aesthetic appearance.
Metal surface treatments: Phosphating
Phosphating refers to a chemical process that creates a reaction. In this case, the reaction is obtained by the contact between sulfuric acid and the metallic material.
The reaction causes the deposit of a layer of zinc that creates a protection from the corrosion on the surface of the component.
The Geometยฎ treatment
The Geometยฎ treatment is a non-electrolytic, anti-corrosion intervention in which an aqueous solution containing zinc and aluminum is used.
The result of the application is a layer of protective coating which is applied to the metal component by immersion or spray.
Heat treatments
When it comes to heat treatments applied to metal surfaces, we mean a series of processes implemented through the use of heat. Once applied, they enhance and modify some structural properties of the material. Such treatments can be defined as the combination of heating and cooling operations on metallic surfaces. During the application of heat, some characteristics of the metals are modified while the residual stresses are eliminated. For example, the hardness and mechanical resistance undergo a change while the resilience is improved.
Certified Controls
Our Quality division provides certifications that attest to the correct execution of all carpentry and mechanical work by Mecal. We can also issue further control cards and additional certificates.
Besides the EN 1090-1/EN-10190-3 certificates with execution class up to EXC3, we can provide the Customer with:
โข control sheets relating to the material used
โข Non-Destructive Testing application certifications
โข material traceability sheets.
Large Mechanical Processing
Our working areas cover specific dimensions to satisfy the demands of a medium-light metal carpentry. Nonetheless, we are able to manage processing of larger dimensions. The purpose is to support the fundamental values that have always distinguished Mecal, namely flexibility and completeness of the service. In this way, we secure a rapid and effective response to every request we receive by our Customers.
