Mechanical machining

We carry out all main mechanical operations with numerical control technologies and machines that guarantee maximum precision and production speed

Our goal has always been to be the ideal partner in executing all kinds of mechanical processing. For this reason, the area dedicated to processes such as turning and milling is equipped with numerical control machines and high-tech equipment that guarantee quality, flexibility, speed and service completeness.

What does โ€œmechanical machiningโ€ mean?

Mechanical machining refers to the manufacturing of metal components by expertly programming numerical control machinery, helping our expert carpenters maintain constant control throughout the entire production phase.

Our workshop

The mechanical processing department has 5 high-tech machines:
โ€ข 3 CNC machining centers, with working ranges from 3 to 5 axis
โ€ข 2 CNC lathes

The machinery is also supported by piece clamping systems and includes:
โ€ข magnetic chucks
โ€ข hydraulic vices
โ€ข tilting table
โ€ข turning table
โ€ข dedicated equipment

Like almost the rest of our production, this division is furnished with the latest generation machinery connected directly to our management system.

In addition to analyzing the drawings before putting the components into production, these technologies allow our Technical Office to:
โ€ข check the correct allowance
โ€ข confirm the feasibility of the project
โ€ข identify the preferential machine for the execution of the piece
โ€ข check the availability of the necessary tools
โ€ข run, if necessary, a CAD/CAM program that will be transferred directly onto the machine

Much of the mechanical work we carry out consists of the creation of assembly components and post-welding/ post-treatment assemblies.

We bring the majority of it to completion internally. However, part of our work concerns third-party pieces supplied directly by our Customers.

What does CNC mean?

The term CNC refers to machinery through which the manufacturing process occurs automatically and constantly controlled by a computer, i.e. in a programmed manner.
Programming using CNC technologies allows us to reduce the processing times and respond to the needs of mass production.

In conclusion, CNC machines guarantee:
โ€ข high precision
โ€ข process repeatability
โ€ข process automation
โ€ข speed of implementation
โ€ข high level of productivity
โ€ข minimal margin of error

What processes can Mecal perform?

The main mechanical processes we encounter in our work are turning and milling, which fall within the field of chip removal processes.

turning

Turning is the removal of shavings from a material and is executed by using a high-tech machine called lathe.

Through mechanical turning, we obtain particular pieces with precise finishes such as grooves, holes and threads.

Milling

Mechanical milling is one of the processes for chip removal through the use of machine tools called milling machines. Its principle is based on the rotary motion of the tool. This processing is carried out on the surfaces of the metallic components entrusted by our customers in order to obtain precise geometric pieces.
