The metal carpentry department is the foundations of all our work. In this area, all the components from the manufacturing process are assembled according to our Customer’s specifications.
Here all operations are guided by experts and attested operators who, through the use of high-tech machinery, carry out all the manufacturing steps to obtain finished, quality mechanical components for different application sectors.
From this department, we initiate all the machining processes of the different mechanical components entrusted to us by the client, with constant attention to quality control.
Our medium-light carpentry division
Our workshop is composed by 13 workstations and a robotic welding island. The stations are large and furnished with all the necessary tools assigned to each carpenter.
The general procedures are posted in each workstation together with those specifically applied to the single product. Among these, there are the WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and WPQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Report) procedures, so that all activities are carried out safely, with quality and precision.
Besides, in order to safeguard the health and well-being of our carpenters, we have installed a latest generation extraction system to eliminate the fumes caused by welding operations.
The production manager is responsible for supervising the department; in addition to holding various welding control licenses, he frequently carries out refresher courses.
To satisfy any request from our customers, we make sure that all carpenters have these licenses.
As regards the welding checks, upon specific customer request we can make:

Recently, new staff have been introduced into our carpentry department and trained under the supervision of the manager and senior carpenters.
We consider coaching a crucial moment for the professional growth of the young.
For this reason, experienced collaborators support new workers in developing their skills. Thus, we are able to ignite the passion and interest in this work field even in Mecalโs youngest collaborators.
The carpentry processes we offer
The following are included in our medium-light carpentry activities.
The most expert carpenters carry out all processes to ensure better management of materials, timing and a correct execution.
CALENDERING
Calendering is a mechanical deformation that aims to obtain conical or cylindrical shapes from a semi-finished sheet of metal.
It is carried out using special tools and machinery.
MARKING
This process creates markings in the metallic material in an indelible, permanent manner; the component or assembly is marked by means of appropriate machinery to indicate a code, the casting, a serial number or else.
RIVETING
Riveting aims to facilitate and speed up assembly operations. The threads are inserted into appropriately drilled holes. The carpenterโs goal is to have the desired thread and the right length.
BORING
Boring is a precision process that is performed to obtain holes with tight tolerances. In Mecalโs plant, it is carried out by specialized personnel on different types of CNC machining centers, ensuring the maximum precision.
Curvature
Curvature allows curved shapes to be obtained from metal profiles. The structural shape of the metal is deformed using special machinery.
DRILLING AND THREADING
Through the use of specific tools, drilling and threading provide precise threads and/or holes of different sizes on the surface of metal components.
The quality of the holes is guaranteed by Mecalโs production team.
